Air Conditioning Maintenance Is Important

Have you notice black stains around your Heating and Air Conditioning vents, a mildew smell, or condensation on an air conditioning vent?  What could cause a lot of condensation to build up on the air conditioning vent?  Consider the facts; we live in Austin Texas, it is hot all of the time, and we use your air conditioner probably 85% of the time!

Condensation with your heating and air conditioning unit is generally caused by bare metal in a hot space when cold air is moved thru your heating and air conditioning system.  You should have a licensed heating and air conditioning technician evaluate your attic and check the heating and air conditioning duct work to make sure there is no bare metal showing. Typically you should see insulated flex duct in your attic. Unfortunately other heating and air conditioning companies will cut corners and the duct runs for your air conditioning won’t be correctly sealed.  We would also look for sags in the heating and air conditioning duct runs; they may have standing water in them that would cause mold growth and a mildew smell.  If we were to find a sag in the air conditioning duct run; we would drain the moisture and then provide proper support for the air conditioning duct run.

Additional AC Facts

Another cause of sweating from the heating and air conditioning vents is lack of return air; this can be caused by dirty air conditioning and heating filters or coils. In some cases if the heating and air conditioning unit was replaced with a larger heating and air conditioning unit, the return air duct should have been replaced with a larger one also, but unfortunately this is another way that dishonest heating and air conditioning companies can gain more revenue from the install. Call a trust worthy heating and air conditioning company! Call Precision Heating & Air today – we will gladly set an appointment for a trained heating and air conditioning technician to perform a full inspection of your filters, coil, and duct work and educate you on the options.
