Why would I need a new Air Conditioning System?

Although your present furnace or air conditioner may be working, if it is more than 12 years old you should consider replacing it with a new high efficiency system. How are Air Condtioners systems rated?

Central air conditioners, the condenser units are given a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating, or SEER. In simple terms, SEER is calculated by dividing the cooling capacity of a continuously operating air conditioner by the electrical input required to run it. The value is expressed in numbers. A SEER 10, for example, is now the lowest number allowed, and any number larger than that is accordingly more efficient and will cost less to operate. Along with the yellow Energy Guide tags attached to each appliance, these ratings give consumers a benchmark sense of where their choices fall on the energy-efficiency scale.
